These photos are interesting because of which daisies you chose to focus on while letting the others blur into the backdrop. I think the second photo is my favorite because you would expect the highest daisy to be in focus, but it’s not…instead you focus on the middle daises (middle in a vertical sense) Very cool.
The last photo has that dream sequence quality-the blurry cloud like appearance on the far left daisy may be why-It would be neat to see that shot with the stems in focus. Good work!

You know, Heidi, I sometimes think I need to take a class or read a book to figure out where the focus is supposed to be in a picture, or perhaps it is more interesting this way. Where I pick and choose, though generally I try to pick close to the center or the thing in the foreground. Yeah, the curve of the stems in the last shot is what I wanted to capture, so perhaps an additional shot with them in focus would have been good.

I'm not so sure there is a place that the focus is "supposed to be". Classes are great, as long as the teacher isn't pushing a "this is how you are supposed to do it" mentality, instead offering suggestions that allow for creative freedom. Don't get me wrong, it is important to learn the technique, but often people feel obligated to focus on technique to the point of losing their experimental spirit. There are times when breaking from convention makes the shot… I guess what I’m saying is it would be great for you to learn technique so you can more break from it with more confidence.

nice photos! the entry title also made me smile...I was a Girl Scout camp counselor for 2 summers and my camp name was Daisy (every counselor had to pick a camp name to go by). Several of the other counselors would start singing that song whenever they saw me.

Meg, that is fun. I wouldn't have thought many people knew that song as it is rather old-fashioned.
