El Domingo de Ramos
Seems the sorrow untold, as you look down the road
At the clamoring crowd drawing near
Feel the heat of the day, as you look down the way
Hear the shouts of Hosanna the King
Chorus
Oh, daughter of Zion your time's drawing near
Don't forsake Him, oh don't pass it by
On the foal of a donkey as the prophets had said
Passing by you, He rides on to die
Come now little foal, though your not very old
Come and bear your first burden bravely
Walk so softly upon all the coats and the palms
Bear the One on your back oh so gently
Midst the shouting so loud and the joy of the crowd
There is One who is riding in silence
For He knows the ones here will be fleeing in fear
When their shepherd is taken away
Chorus
Soon the thorn cursed ground will bring forth a crown
And this Jesus will seem to be beaten
But He'll conquer alone both the shroud and the stone
And the prophesies will be completed
Chorus
On the foal of a donkey as the prophets had said
Passing by you He rides on to die

The palm fronds are beautiful.

Yes, and the bright, red table cloth, along with the green, makes me think backwards to Christmas and forward to Good Friday.

Clever!

I saw something on the sidewalk today that looked like a palm branch. It was dirty and crumpled looking. I thought, "Neil would take a picture of that!"
Also, just after I ran into you the other day I saw some flower petals pouring into the sewer. Again, I thought of Lucy!

Yes, Laura, I probably would have, which got me thinking. The category of things I take pictures of, like so many things in life, has been shaped by what I have seen done. It doesn't end there, though, because creativity blossoms from that base. Another thing is to simply take the time (if you can spare it at all) to stop to take the shot. Generally, one does not regret it. And something I heard from Joel Chappeau via Jesse is not to keep too many copies of any one shot as this dilutes creativity. I have found this last point especially helpful. I take enough pictures as it is. And to have 3 or 4 nearly identical shots just stresses me out and creates indecision. So, usually just after taking them I pick the best or the best couple if it is really a toss up. Also, in low light situations or situations of extreme magnification, it is helpful to enlarge the image right away to check one's focus. I have missed out getting some great shots this way, because I have realized the thing I wanted wasn't in focus; close, but no.
Well, I am not sure why all that photographic advice spewed out just there, but there you go.

Thanks Neal,
That reminds me of a gospel song where the king, on the back of a donkey, to be crucified is also going to be crowned. Thanks for reminding us this timely truth and the pictures are beautiful.

What a great way to say it. Thanks for sharing this beautiful and moving song
