The Fat Cyclist Has Left the Building
Due to inactivity, both of the blog and the blogger, I decided to flatten the tires on this ride. The stated goal of the blog, well, it was laudable, perhaps still doable, but will be attempted rather more infomally. As the "blogfather" of sorts of our little group of blogs, though, perhaps a better metaphor is in order. Let's just say that that blog is cycling with the fishes.
Hey, if I am, indeed, the blogfather, Kirk and Sarah Ward, are clearly the King and Queen of St. Louis Blogs, the royal family if you will, with Princess Joanna. Just check out those comment totals. My correlation of women bloggers having more comments per post is holding up quite nicely, by the way.

Father Blogger. May the rest of us be Jesters your courts? If not,I'll settle for a peddler pushing my cart of candles behind your majesties...while pushing I'll be singing the Decembrists song "Eli the Barrel Boy" or a new ditty…something about the first being last.

You guys are distracting my studying!
I want to be something in this court as well... maybe something in the stables so I can take take care of my guinea pig flock? That, or something lovely like a gardner so I can write bad poetry about landscapes..
Someone should assign roles. Blogfather?

Well, we really are mixing metaphors here with a King and Queen and a Blogfather. If we want to be consistent, perhaps I should be the Prime Minister or something.
Heidi, I think a far more interesting role for you is called for. Jester/Sage perhaps? The jesters in Shakespeare, after all, are often uncommonly wise and perceptive folk, particularly in King Lear. Or perhaps you could be a Wizard.
Laura, it was a nice poem. Keep it up and you could be the bard, if you wanted.
But, really, our designations should be self chosen, and if two people are vying for the same position, well then we'll use jousting to decide.

How grand! All positions would be quite an honor, if it be in such a court. But I will have to pick Jester; they’re lovers of language, song, dance, and play. Plus they get to live like kings, play like kids, and plot like knaves. Any other wanna-be jesters will have to joust me for it!

We give our royal condolances to the "Fat Cyclist." If we are the King and our wife is the Queen then we have been exercising our devine sovereign right to abstain from posting for two or three weeks.
Let them eat cake!

Kirk, I love the royal "we." Nice.

I decided to be a maid in the kitchen of the palace (or castle). When I finish my work, I go to the barn to take care of the guinea-pigs. When that's done, I'm free to roam the moors... that's where I get my poetic inspiration. At night, I curl up in the hay, near the guinea-pigs and write my verses.
Ms. Heidi told me you would put the banner up. I'll send you an e-mail with the info.
