Outsourcing Prayer Lines to India

callscreeners.jpg

Lark News has a pretty funny piece based on the conceit mentioned in the title of this post. After you read their piece, continue reading this post for a paragraph I would have like to have added.

Another prayer partner who took the Western name Theresa because she was from Calcutta had to be let go only a week after her employment because she simply could not grasp the concept of the seed faith offering. Instead of encouraging callers to wait for their hundred-fold blessing until they could have the faith to receive it, she was overheard saying, "What the hell, you gave a hundred dollars, and now you want 10,000 in return. So, that is why Mother washed and fed the beggars, eh, so she would be fat and happy herself?" And, "What did that Hinn fellow tell you? What the Hell! Why would God want you to have an Escalade anyway?"

Calls and emails flooded in over the use of the word "Hell" as something other than a proper noun describing a literal place.
